IoT is one of the world’s fastest growing technology. As IoT grows, the attack surface also grows and all the vulnerabilities present in the digital world will flow into our real world.
Currently Kali linux have tools that can intercept WiFi attack and some Bluetooth attacks. But these are not the only way devices communicate. Devices communicate to each other obeys protocols. Like for serial wired communication, it may use I2C, SPI, JTAG etc and for wireless RF communications like Bluetooth, Zigbee etc.
Recently an OS was released name Attify OS that had the tools that could help in intercepting data in various communication methods, dumping memory, performing DOS etc. Several IOT pen-testing frameworks like ‘HEATHEN’ has also been released. But people are getting frustrated installing these software one by one correcting dependency issues. So it would be nice if Kali 2018 could include hardware hacking tools.
